US LAWMAKERS ACCUSE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT OF ‘INAPPROPRIATELY’ REDACTING EPSTEIN FILES

US lawmakers have criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for improperly redacting files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as they began reviewing the removal of versions under the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA).

Representative Ro Khanna stated that the DOJ’s actions do not comply with the Transparency Act, claiming the FBI, under Trump, had scrubbed the documents in March.

After reviewing the documents, Khanna and Representative Thomas Massie found 20 names removed, with only Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell remaining visible.

Khanna emphasized the need for transparency to identify powerful individuals involved in abuse.

The Justice department has since acknowledged the concerns and indicated that the removals were made, but lawmakers argue these actions still don’t align with the law’s requirements.
